Summer Practice Schedule & Meet Info
Dear Parents,
Thank you for an amazing start to the swim season!
Today was our last afternoon practice. Morning practices start Tuesday. The full schedule is posted here: https://harmonyhammerheads.swimtopia.com/practices
Your pool card works during regular pool hours (9am-9pm) so for those early practices, someone will be there to let you in.
I can’t believe the first meet is 1 week away. Remember, if you don’t declare your child before Sunday, they will not swim in the meet. If you know your child isn’t participating in the meet, please go in and mark them as “Not Attending”. Directions are here: https://harmonyhammerheads.swimtopia.com/signup-in...
If you already know your child won’t be here for a future meet, please go ahead and indicate that now!
If your child can not make it across the pool unassisted, he/she will not be entered in any events!
Most athletes will be entered in 2 individual events and 1 or 2 relays. With 141 swimmers this year, it’s not possible for every swimmer to get their favorite stroke. Coach Erin is working tirelessly to get everyone assigned.
Thank you so much to everyone who signed up to volunteer. You will hear more from Lauren, the Volunteer Coordinator, soon regarding instructions for your position. All the spots are covered but if you aren’t officially on the list and see something that needs to be done, please jump in and help.
Only the swimmers participating in the meet should attend the Thursday morning practice, as they will run through a mock meet.
For the meet, our team warms up at 5pm (the away team warms up at 5:30).
Please have your child ready to get in the pool (including event tattoo) by 5:00. Information on how to make the event tattoo can be found here: https://harmonyhammerheads.swimtopia.com/marking-your-swimmer-for-meets-1
Parents/spectators are welcome to bring chairs/tents to set up on the great lawn behind the clubhouse. Our pool deck is small so we can not accommodate seating for everyone; enter the pool area only for your child’s races.
Parents are responsible for ensuring their child is at the bullpen 5 events prior to their event. We have an announcer and an event board and you can follow along on the app – with the large number of swimmers, we can’t hold any races to search for participants.
I recommend putting names on everything you bring to identify who it belongs to, as you can imagine, when were are cleaning up in the dark and find 10 identical team shirts, it’s hard to get them back to the proper owners.
We will have a concession stand on the lawn. They accept cash and venmo and all proceeds support our team! Come hungry!
More information about meets in general can be found here: https://harmonyhammerheads.swimtopia.com/swim-meet-101
Swimmers earn a ribbon for every event they swim; ribbons are distributed during Fun Friday.
Lastly, the team photo will be on Tues, June 4 at 10am. Five-11 year olds will have regular practice, 12 year olds will practice with 13-18 year olds. Please have your child at the pool in the team swim suit no later than 9:50am that morning.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, I’m here to help,
Sincerely,
Genevieve McGarry
