Concussion, a type of traumatic brain injury, is caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head. Concussions can also occur from a blow to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth causing injury to the brain.
A concussion can result from a fall, or from athletes colliding with each other, the ground, or with an obstacle such as a goal post. Even what seems to be a mild bump or blow to the head could be serious.
